Text to Octal

Text to Octal Conversion is the process of converting Text data into the octal numeral system. The octal numeral system, or oct for short, is the base-8 number system and uses the digits 0 to 7. Octal numerals can be made from binary numerals by grouping binary digits into groups of three (starting from the right). For example, the binary representation for decimal 74 is 1001010. This can be split into two groups: 1001 and 010. These are then converted to their equivalent octal numbers, 9 and 2 respectively. Therefore, decimal 74 converts to octal 112.

Octal conversion can be useful when working with files and file systems that use an 8-bit encoding scheme such as ASCII. Octal conversion can also be used to convert Text data into other formats such as Binary or Hexadecimal.
